On Monday 30th of July 2018, I met up with Tower Hamlets Homes, their CEO Susmita Sen and Strategic Engagement Manager – Fokrul Hoque, to put forward concerns raised by residents during the election campaign.

Tower Hamlets Homes is one of the largest landlords in Mile End Ward, mainly managing the Lockesley Estate including Salmon Lane and Rhodeswell Road. Therefore I met with Susmita and Fokrul to discuss issues raised during the election campaign by residents :

ASB Intervention Tools:

Many residents on the Locksley Estate raised issues with regards to to Anti Social Behaviour (ASB), so I asked THH team what intervention tools they have.

From the discussion, it appears THH have a three pronged approach to the issue:

A. ASB Hotline, encouraging residents to report the issue, so they are picked up when the police set their tasking of resources.

B. Extra youth service sessions at Locksley Community Centre, currently there are two, that will be increased to three sessions.

C.Investigate, secure by design solutions, to design out ASB from blocks, for example closing off open stairways and better door entry systems.

Refurbishment Programme

THH agreed to give, ward Councillors a copy of their refurbishment programme, the main priority being fire safety and making existing building watertight.
