Tower Hamlets Council are proposing to remove residents parking bays in Dodd Street. Below is an update.

Tower Hamlets Council is proposing to remove parking bays, in order to make way way for the refuse management of a new development, at the corner of Burdett Road and Dodd Street.

After consultation with residents I have raised objections to the proposal, residents have the following concerns with regards to the proposed removal of the residents parking bays:

  1. There are limited parking bays around the neighboring areas to begin with;
  2. New developments being built around Dodd Street, will add more pressure for parking spaces;
  3. There are residents livelihood dependent on their vehicles;
  4. It will impact community cohesion.

After my initial objection, Tower Hamlets Council have replied that they have no option.

Sight Visit with stakeholders and Canary Wharf Group PLC (owners of the new development)

Subsequently there was a local stakeholders site visit meeting with the Canary Wharf Group. After physically inspecting the proposed area, all present agreed that the Council proposal of removing parking bays was excessive and that the Canary Wharf Group were willing to look at alternatives, including putting an amendment to the planning application to minimize disruption to residents.
