Revised Proposals by Tower Hamlets Council

After a vigorous campaign by residents the council have drawn up revised proposals with regards to parking bays on Thomas Road. Details are below:

  • remove approx. two parking spaces (5m and 4m in length) on the north side outside no.11 and on the south side, the first immediate Permit holder parking space east of no.44 respectively as opposed to the six parking spaces that were originally proposed to be removed.
  • To introduce a general Loading bay (10m) on the south side opposite Limborough House.
  • To convert all the existing single yellow lines to double yellow lines on both sides of Thomas Road outside no.44 and Limborough House.
  • To introduce no loading – at any time restrictions on the north side of the road outside Limborough House to maintain traffic flow at all times and to ensure there are no obstructions from parked vehicles.

The revised proposal also includes converting three business parking spaces to residential parking spaces) which are close to the site (see the attached map):-

  • To split / convert the existing Business parking bay on the south side (outside Chaldron House) comprising of four parking spaces into

i)                    A Permit holder parking bay comprising of three parking spaces

ii)                   A single Business parking bay

What happens next?

The new proposed Orders for Thomas Road will be advertised as part of the formal statutory consultation process in the East London Advertiser and London Gazette on the 17th January 2019, the Tower Hamlets LYN-Love Your Neighbourhood – Tower Hamlets App by following this link – https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.towerhamlets.fifili&hl=en_IE and by placing public notices in the affected area. I have attached a copy of this notice to this email.

This statutory consultation will last for 21 days starting from the 17th January 2019 for a period of 21 days for anyone wishing to make representations or comments.
